ROSEHILL April 2

Inside Grass; Good 4

12 Heats – 5 x 1030m (2 Open; 2 2YO; 1 Maiden); 7 x 900m (2 Open; 3 2YO; 2 Maiden)

The leading Rosehill stables dominated with multiple heats wins for Hawkes Racing; Chris Waller and Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou. Bjorn Baker also won two trials.

CAPITAL ILLUSION (Michael Freedman): This unraced Capitalist filly looks another nice 2YO prospect for a stable that excels with its youngsters. This was only her second trial and there was a lot to like about the way she found another gear in her 900m heat (54.50; 34.59) to leave the chasers behind over the last 200m and coast home by 2.5 lengths.

HUSK (Hawkes Racing): She's a moody mare but on her right day we know she has the talent. She was focused and sharp from start to finish in her 900m heat, travelling strongly to win under a hold by almost six lengths and post the fastest time (53.64; 33.79) in the seven trials over the distance. This was her second trial since she last raced in November and has her ready to perform fresh.

WILD ATLANTIC (Hawkes Racing): This Exceedance colt has been on our list since a smart win in his first trial in November and another impressive performance to win his 900m heat confirmed he has the ability. Travelled well within himself in his 900m heat (54.40; 34.49) and did all that was required to hold his advantage to the line in good time.

The Hawkes stable also won a 900m trial with the previously noted maiden CHAMPERE (54.92; 34.24) and would have come away delighted with a strong fifth in this heat by stablemate ADENAUER. Their other notable triallers included easy work by the classy pair BRAVE ONE and SPIONE in their 900m open heat won by DIDDLE DUMPLING (53.93; 33.92).

Numerous good performances from the Waller team including the 1050m 2YO trial winners FIABA (63.72; 35.76) and NATIONS LEAGUE (62.63; 35.68) and the 900m heat winner KATATO beating promising stablemate ROCKET GIRL (55.06; 34.63). Other Waller runners to take the eye with soft trials included GOD'S WINDOW, the G1 winner LAZZURA, AIR OF SOLACE and LA BASILIQUE.

The Ryan/Alexiou partnership had DIDDLE DUMPLING in good form for her trial win. They also won a 1050m maiden trial with CHE OLE (62.00; 35.80) and a 900m heat with SIMPLY UNIQUE (54.36; 34.36) where the strong late work by stablemate ASK DI to finish third was one of the best maiden trials of the day.

The Bjorn baker stablemate MAWJOOD (61.57; 34.36) and BATTLE HYMN (61.96; 34.11) went through their work in good style to post strong wins in their 1050m open heats.
