Treasurethe Moment happy before two-hit campaign

Matt Laurie is highly conscious of giving Treasurethe Moment every chance to build on her impressive record.

One of the top fillies and mares of 2025 will have her first public outing this week as Treasurethe Moment begins her short autumn feature race campaign.

Matt Laurie could not be happier with the four-year-old whose stellar string of four wins included the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) in November 2024 was followed by four more with the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) and the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick among them last autumn.

Competitive in races like Cox Plate and the Champions Mile last spring, Laurie was keen to give the mare as much of a break as possible before launching into 2026.

It will be a jump out on either Wednesday or Thursday where punters will get their first look at Treasurethe Moment this year.

"We are happy with her preparation so far," Laurie said.

"She will have another trial after this one as well leading into the Futurity Stakes.

"We gave her a little extra time in the paddock knowing that she had three really big preparations.

"She's a horse that seems to come to hand quickly anyway and I think she is happy, rejuvenated and she's keen. I'm pleased that she's out training again."

Going back to Caulfield for the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) is the initial race on Laurie's plan which bodes well given her first-up win in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) last August delivered her peak Racing and Sports rating of 124 that day.

"She is a super clean winded filly and with those monstrous preparations, sometimes after the spring they are lucky to get three weeks in the paddock before returning for more," Laurie added.

Treasurethe Moment is the $4 equal second favourite in futures markets for the Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington on March 7 with the Chris Waller-trained Autumn Glow while Ceowulf holds favouritism slightly at $3.50.

"My idea is to give her two, maybe three, runs and then putting her away before a red-hot crack at the Cox Plate," Laurie added.
