Bassett Babe Maintains Unbeaten Record with Impressive City Debut

Andrew Gluyas has a host of options moving forward with exciting filly Bassett Babe after she maintained her unbeaten record on the Parks at Morphettville on the weekend.

Coming off a dominant maiden win at Gawler,Bassett Babe justified her short price to score another impressive 2.67 length win over Mostly For Show with apprentice Taylor Johnstone in the saddle.

The stable to now weigh up whether they look over the border of back off the lightly-raced filly and target the Adelaide Racing Carnival.

"I think she's taken that next step,'' Gluyas said post-race.

"We'll let the dust settle. It would be nice to get her into a fillies race.

"That won't be here, we'll look at what's happening over the border but that comes with a caution, it is her first prep.

"We can even let her up and race in our three-year-old races,'' he said.

Basset Babe was the first leg of double for the Gluyas and Johnstone combination after Tough Talk continued his steady progression to record his third win from six starts and his first city success.

"It was a good second-up effort,'' Gluyas said.

"He's matured into a winning style of horse, he's bred to get ground,'' he said.

Johnstone shared riding honours with Teagan Voorham and Jake Toeroek who both had doubles, the latter bookended the meeting.

Voorham scored with the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Bardigrub early on before Over Yonder scored first-up in South Australia for Port Augusta horseman Brendon Davis giving him his first Saturday success at Morphettville.

Toeroek winning the opening race aboard the well-tried High On Sugar before continuing his solid association with Streetcar Apollo in the last, making it two wins on the bounce for the David Jolly and Justin Potter stable.

Anna Jordsjo took riding honour at Lock on Sunday including the Cup aboard Ichibansan for Kylie McKerlie, while a new name in local form guides Ashvin Goindasamy recorded his first SA win at Clare on Friday aboard Crown And Anchor for the Andrew Clarken stable.
