Undefeated Lees’ filly Magic Night-bound

All being well, She’s Extra will make her next appearance in a stakes race.

The Golden Slipper might come around too soon, but Newcastle filly She's Extra could still feature over the carnival after making it two wins from as many starts with a stylish performance at Warwick Farm.

The daughter of Exceedance backed up a four-length romp at her home track on February 14 with a comprehensive 3-1/4 length victory over Promenade in Wednesday's All Too Hard @ Vinery Stud (1100m) Handicap.

Danny Greer, representing trainer Kris Lees, confirmed connections had their sights on a start in the Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday week, provided She's Extra came through her Warwick Farm win without issue.

The Golden Slipper (1200m) is a week after that and given the tight timeline, the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 11 shapes as a more likely longer-term target.

"There is a two-year-old fillies' race next Saturday. Should she come through this well, which hopefully she does, we will nominate for that," Greer said.

"We will take our path from there. She might even be a Percy Sykes type of horse, but Kris will map a plan."

Greer said She's Extra had always shown above average ability and her effort to win her first two starts, and make a successful transition to Sydney grade along the way, shouldn't be underestimated.

"It's not easy to do for any horse, especially to go from a provincial race to a metro race," he said.

"She has done it in good style, and she paraded really well today. She is a very professional type."

Gerald Ryan also has higher aspirations for Just Maz, who like She's Extra is unbeaten in two starts after adding Wednesday's Ranvet Handicap (1300m) to her debut win at Canterbury in January.

The three-year-old is raced in a partnership that include businessman John Singleton and is being aimed towards the Group 3 James H B Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 18.

"That was the plan and that's why we gave her the break after her first start," Ryan said.

"She chased them down well, and was going to the line with her ears pricked. I don't think we've gotten to the bottom of her yet."
