Relentless Voyager to miss Spring Carnival
Impressive Moonee Valley winner out of spring.
Relentless Voyager, who charged up Melbourne Cup betting charts after his impressive win at Moonee Valley on Saturday, is injured and will miss the Spring Carnival.
Racing Victoria stewards on Monday advised that the imported stayer, who is trained by Ciaron Maher, suffered a ligament injury in his win in the Travis Harrison Cup (2040m) and was in need of time on the sidelines.
"Relentless Voyager was assessed by the Maher vet team yesterday @ (and) diagnosed with a check ligament injury – out for the spring," RV posted on X.
Relentless Voyager tightened in as short as $18 in Melbourne Cup betting after his slashing win at Moonee Valley, when he swept home from last on the home turn.
But the son of Ulysses trotted back to scale short in his action and was noted in the stewards' report as being lame on the off foreleg.
It was just the third Australian start for the six-year-old, who came to Australia after his eighth placing in last year's Ebor Handicap.
