Not giving up after a busy week
Gandy with a strong hand again.
A busy period of racing culminates on Wednesday night when Tasmania hosts its third thoroughbred race meeting in five days.
Again, fields are strong following on from last Friday's feature Newmarket meeting and Sunday's Hobart card.
Trainer Stuart Gandy looks set to continue his winning way. He is coming off an impressive win by his promising filly Crack The Shutters in the $125,000 3yo Cup and a winning double on Sunday.
On Wednesday, he will saddle up his progressive stayer Don't Give Up in the 2100m BM68. Don't Give Up bolted in last time in Hobart in a slightly easier grade, scoring by 2.5 lengths, leading all the way. Chloe Wells will ride again.
The main danger to Don't Give Up looks to be the Barry Campbell-trained Night Invader, who has won three of her past five starts. Campbell sits equal second with Gandy on the premiership table with 16 wins, four behind leader John Blacker.
"I really like Don't Give Up, he's going great, and I'd really like to see Can's Catch Chilli get up for my wife (Ruth), Gandy said.
Can't Catch Chilli will contest the opening event, the 1100m maiden, and will be ridden by Anthony Darmanin.
The filly has raced only five times and is coming off a solid second placing in Launceston two weeks ago.
Gandy has been enjoying plenty of success early this season, his 16 winners coming at a strike rate of 18.40%.
"The horses are going well, we have a lot in work, so they need to be. The staff is doing a great job, it's tiring, but if you've got a lot of horses in work, you need to be going to the races."
Climbeverymountain, who caused a huge upset at her first race start when she won at $101 in Hobart earlier this month, will tackle the 1400m class 1. The Patrick Dargan-trained mare will go around a far shorter quote this time.
The first race is at 17:29. Matt Reid will be trackside for Tasracing Live and Sky Thoroughbred Central.
