Guest House to have crucial Slipper gallop at Rosehill
Trainer Mick Price intends to give talented Melbourne colt Guest House some timely experience on the Golden Slipper course at Rosehill Gardens this week.
Price, who trains in partnership with Michael Kent Junior, will be in Sydney on Thursday morning to oversee Guest House's crucial track gallop on the Rosehill course proper.Guest House will then have another strong workout next Tuesday to complete his preparation for the Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21.
"He's in good order and has had four weeks between runs – he will be ready for the Golden Slipper.''
Guest House hasn't raced since his close third to Streisand and Closer To Free in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on February 21.
It now seems likely all three Blue Diamond placegetters will line up in the Golden Slipper.
Trainer Clinton McDonald has Streisand primed for her attempt to join Courtza (1989) and Bounding Away (1986) as the only fillies to win the Blue Diamond-Golden Slipper double.
Closer To Free trialled at Rosehill this morning with trainer Danny O'Brien confirming connections intend to pay the $150,000 late entry fee by 11am Monday to secure their colt a start in the Golden Slipper.
In latest TAB Fixed Odds betting for the Golden Slipper, Streisand is at $11, Guest House at $13 and Closer To Free $15 behind $5 favourite Paradoxium.
Meanwhile, Price said talented three-year-old Planet Red will contest the Group 2 $500,000 Alister Clark Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on March 21 rather than the Group 1 $750,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) the same day.
It is expected Observer will go to either the Rosehill Guineas or the Group 1 $2 million Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 28.
