Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith

On the win and tactics: "It was a good, great ride. We sort of planned it because the other day, at Horsham we rode for too much toughness, and she was found wanting at the end.

"So, Mitho and the guys, I rang them this morning to see if we could ride it like Pike in the last and I said to Fred, just do a W Pike and see what happens.

"We needed points to get into the final, it's a half-million-dollar race, and it will give us something to do on Oaks Day.

Thoughts in the run: "I liked it, I thought we'd run top two when the gaps started open and he rode it very well."

Her greatest attribute and prep into the Oaks Days Final: "Turn of sprint. We'd been riding him upside down because he led and won at Geelong, which was a blue, and we tried it again at Horsham just to run top two to get in the final.

"She can spend a week down the beach now."

Winning Jockey: Fred Kersley

On getting back on track and the instructions: "After that win first up, I thought, beautiful, we're on the right path now.

"I don't know where it all went amiss at Horsham, I was going there quite confident and it was really too bad to be true.

"A similar track came up today, Good ground. I always thought she wanted to get her toe in, so Lindsey told me to err on the side of caution.

"He said, no stress if you get held up, just go back, enjoy the run. I tell you, at the 500 I had a lap full of horse, I almost went to stay in, and just by fate, she wanted to get out and, bang, the runs opened up and had the horse to really present through them.

Did he ride it like Pike?: "I reckon I looked a bit better than Pikey. He gets a bit messy on them. I kept the elbows nice and balanced."

Is she a chance in the final: "She won well, I think she goes into the final one I dare say, Lindsay's horses are good on a backup, and if there's rain, she's going to come into it."
