French banker of the day - 14th February 2026
Saturday’s French banker of the day is an exciting gelding looking to remain unbeaten up in grade…

Silver Laser (Daniela Mélé/ Léo-Paul Bréchet)
Auteuil - R5 - Prix Varaville Hurdle
It has been hard not to be impressed with Silver Laser in both starts to date and he might well prove well-capable of taking this step up in class in his stride.
Carrying the infamous colours of Patrick Papot, the four-year-old son of Elarqam showed immense battling qualities to make a winning debut on the level at the Le Lion-d'Angers back in August.
Although a winner first time out, he looked like a different prospect when faced with a set of hurdles at Pau last month, jumping with aplomb for much of the contest before stretching clear in effortless style up the straight to record a facile fourteenth length verdict.
He looked to have his rivals beat some way from home at Pau and quickened up in the manner of a horse who would be more than capable of going up in class.
There's no doubt this will ask more of him this afternoon, but he can prove equal to the task and remain unbeaten.
