My Calyx Cen is an intriguing contender against more exposed rivals on his first start out of maiden company.

My Calyx Cen exceeded market expectations on debut when producing a fine effort to finish runner-up at Bordeaux over a mile in September before showing natural progress to run out an all-the-way winner of a similar event at the same track a month later.

The form of his three and a quarter length Bordeaux success reads strongly with both the second and third home scoring since to give it a boost, while it's possible that jockey Valentin Seguy might be able to dictate things out in front once more given the lack of early speed on paper.

Jockey Valentin Seguy and trainer Patrik Olave Valdivielso have struck up a good partnership from their few runners together with 46% of their runners finding the frame.

There should be more to come from this son of Calyx, and he can take another step forward now upped in grade after a break.
