French banker of the day – 26th February 2026
Thursday’s French banker is a veteran looking to come out on top now down in class…

Fidele Au Poste (Nicolas De Lageneste/Tanguy Andrieux)
Fontainebleau – R4 – Prix de la Société des Courses de Dieppe
Fidele Au Poste might have four years and upwards on his rivals at the grand old age of eleven in the Prix de la Société des Courses de Dieppe, but he's still a talented performer on his day and this represents a significant drop in class.
A six-time winner from 28 starts, the Saint des Saints gelding hasn't been seen on the track since unseating his rider at Craon 151 days ago.
However, that effort came in the Class 1 Grand Steeple-Chase du Conseil Départemental de la Mayenne and before that, he fell when contesting in the Prix Saint-Sauveur (Listed Hcp).
Confidence might not be at all time high for the eleven-year-old, but you only have to go back three starts to find him landing a Class 3 handicap chase at Auteuil, form which would give him a huge chance in a race of this nature.
The drop back to two-mile and three furlongs also looks sure to suit this afternoon and whilst he evidently needs to prove his well-being following a break, this drop in standard might just allow him to do so.
