Four weekend World Pool fixtures upcoming from Australia, Dubai and Hong Kong

Two new Australian fixtures join races in UAE and HK; 13 races in total set to be commingled

This weekend will see World Pool in action across four fixtures, on Saturday 28 February from Flemington and Randwick in Australia, and Meydan in the UAE, while on Sunday 1 March the Group 1 Hong Kong Gold Cup will be commingled.

Australian Guineas Day from Flemington and Verry Elleegant Stakes Day (Chipping Norton Stakes Day) from Randwick are both new additions to the World Pool roster for 2026, and four races from each fixture will be available to customers in 27 jurisdictions.

The action from Flemington features the Group 1 Australian Guineas, where the Ciaron Maher-trained Observer is aiming to become the fourth horse to complete the Victoria Derby-Australian Guineas double, after King's High, Mahogany and Hitotsu.

The Group 2 Blamey Stakes, HKJC World Pool Trophy and 3yo Fillies' Handicap are the other World Pool contests on the card.

Further north at Sydney's premier racecourse, Randwick, two Group 1s will be commingled, including the feature Verry Elleegant Stakes and Surround Stakes.

Chris Waller's filly Autumn Glow is aiming to make it a perfect 10 wins from 10 career starts in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes.

Tempted, who two starts ago finished second to Hong Kong Sprint sensation Ka Ying Rising in The Everest, will bid to land a first career Group 1 in the Surround Stakes.

All three Australian Group 1s have featured in the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities' (IFHA) Top 100 Group 1 races in the last three years.

Following Australia, the World Pool action will continue in Dubai, where four races on Meydan's Dubai Super Saturday card will be commingled.

Three Group 2s – Singspiel Stakes, Al Maktoum Classic and Dubai City Of Gold – and the Group 3 Mahab Al Shimaal will be available to World Pool customers, and nine-time Group 1 winner, Rebel's Romance, who lines up in the Dubai City Of Gold, is likely to be the star attraction on the card.

The Al Maktoum Classic sees British-trained Heart Of Honour clash once again with local hope Artorius after the pair finished third and fourth in the Group 1 Al Maktoum Challenge in January.

Challengers from the UK, Ireland and France are set to take on the best of the UAE in the Singspiel Stakes.

Romantic Warrior bids for second leg of Hong Kong Triple Crown

The Group 1 Hong Kong Gold Cup from Sha Tin on Sunday 1 March will be the last of 13 World Pool races commingled across the weekend, and the eyes of the racing world will be Romantic Warrior as he aims to land the second leg of Hong Kong's Triple Crown.

Romantic Warrior secured a 12th Group 1 when winning the Stewards' Cup in January and the Danny Shum-trained eight-year-old is likely to go off at very short odds as he takes on five rivals, including Voyage Bubble, who he defeated in this race in 2024.

All 13 races from Flemington, Randwick, Meydan and Sha Tin will be available to World Pool customers in 27 jurisdictions.
