Winning Trainer: Ben, Will & JD Hayes (Ben speaking)
Deserved win: "Hopefully it's a nice start to the day. This horse deserves it, he's been racing very well, and he's been putting in some great runs, and the form out of of his last run is very good. I thought it was a great ride by Mark, and good to see him win and win well on a big day.
"We've got a great group of owners, great colours, they've raced a lot of horses with us. The Bacash's actually own this, Bacash is a restaurant. It's a good group of people, good loyal clients, and to get a win like this on a big day like this is the biggest thrill you can get."
Big week: "We were always hoping he was a horse we seriously considered going to the Caulfield Guineas, but we just thought this race looked ideal for him. He hasn't actually won any stakes races, so he got in well on the weights and just looked a great race to win on a good day."
"So we resisted, went here and got a result, so full credit to the team. Today's a good day; had a baby last week, been officially sponsored by Kia, and won the first race of, I think, 17 runners so hopefully a couple more to come."
Carbine Club?: It's definitely the race that springs to mind. We'll just see how he pulls up, he is deep into his prep, if he pulls up great and gives us no reason not to. We'll definitely consider it. Obviously, got to talk to my two brothers who are in Sydney at the moment, and we'll come up with a plan on Monday."
Winning Jockey: Mark Zahra
How it unfolded: "I had a bit of company early, I sort of thought I'd be the leader but they were just going too quick so I had to come back, he actually switched off really good, got room at the right time and the horse did the rest."
"I was always travelling well enough to get off their backs, it was pretty much over when he let down, he was strong, it was a good effort, he definitely runs 1400 metres no worries."
Track: "Track's in great order, should play fair all day."
