Winning Trainer: Kym Davison
On the achievement: "Our first City winner, so not a bad one to break the ice with that's for sure. We were hoping to be in the next race, but this is a nice consolation."
On the winner: "The horse is bred to run 2000m, so we've been keeping him fresh for the 1400m and when we didn't qualify, you've got to be up here anyway as an emergency, so we might as well have a throw at the stumps in this race."
On the ride: "Perfect ride, he got a great cart into the race and produced him at the right time, it was a great win."
On the ownership group: "There's about 20 blokes in it, about 10 blokes I paid footy with back in the 90s. We kind of fell away from each other for a while, but met again at the races. Canny Hell was in the Country Championships last year and this bloke is out of a half-sister to Canny Hell's mum.
"We saw him at the sale, he was only a little thing and we got him for 40 grand."
On where to next: "He's still learning what it's about, he's got a lot of improvement to come."
"Either Melbourne or Sydney, come Spring time. We'll pop him out now and put a plan together. He could be a Kosciusko horse.
Winning Jockey: Sam Clipperton
On the win: "He was very brave today and congratulations to all the team involved. He was tenacious that last 100m and he gave me a beautiful spin."
"He presented in beautiful order, had a lovely run in the race, I was able to pop out three wide on the back of one at the 1000m which gave me a good drag into the race. It was touch and go at the furlong, but he really dug in and got his head in front, against a pretty handy group of three-year-olds."
"I'm just rapt, it's so good to be back on the big stage."
Beaten Jockeys:
Jason Collett (Rivellino): "The barrier made it difficult where we ended up in the run off a moderate tempo."
Ben Melham (West Of Swindon): "Went a bit keen with the blinkers on. Struggled through the ground."
Damian Lane (Matias): "Good run. Just couldn't build any momentum. Did a good job to pick up and sprint as well as he did and finish as close as he did."
Regan Bayliss (Aerodrome): "Didn't like the shifty ground."
James McDonald (Providence): "Just probably looking for a touch further."
Tim Clark (Agent Zero): "Just a little bit outclassed."
Tommy Berry (Pictor): "Good run in transit. Nice and strong through the line. Probably looking for 2000m now."
Zac Purton (Monopolistic): "Probably didn't go hard enough for him to win. He got into it OK."
Kerrin McEvoy (Kilman): "Great run by him. He enjoyed that ground. Gave a good kick. Shame we didn't get the bob in."
Tom Sherry (Pappa Blue): "Going to be a lovely horse. Just a bit more time."
Craig Williams (Olympian): "Stepped up to the mark really well. Paul & Leah, the horse's trainers, were very confident with him and his performance showed that today."
