2025 VRC WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The VRC Winter Championship Final is a Listed race for milers conducted by the Victoria Racing Club at Flemington.

The VRC Winter Championship Final is run over 1600m under Handicap conditions.

It was worth $200,000 in 2025.

The race has been run under various names and has only received up to Listed status.

Mike Moroney has the most recent wins with three while the jockeys have shared the first prize.

Happy Star won in 1997 and two runs later won a G2 Liston Stakes.

Magic Consol took it out impressively in 2019 and would then two months later win the G2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes first up.

Tuvalu won in 2022 and then had a great Spring winning the G1 Toorak and placing in the Rupert Clarke and Champions Mile.

Glaneuse was a dual winner going up 5kg from his first to second win in 2012.

Munhamek set a weight carrying record winning the 2024 VRC Winter Championship Final with 60.5kg.

The 2024 VRC Winter Championship Final was won by Munhamek from Lounge Bar Rubi and Green Fly.
