Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2025 AFL Season.
We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.
HAWTHORN v RICHMOND
Sunday 4 May @ MCG
Two MCG tenants are going at it and you have to think a good weather game could see a big margin.
Hawthorn went through the motions against West Coast in a game which shaped that way.
They always tend to play better at the MCG and so this week sets up at a nicer structure. Gunston and Chol may not be winning a Flag but they will beat up these sorts of defences.
It's now up to the midfield to make that occur.
| Match | Hawthorn | Richmond | Ground |
| Last time they met | 19.17 [131] | 10.8 [68] | MCG |
| Last 10 matches | 3 wins | 6 wins | 1 draw |
| Notes | Prior to last game, Hawthorn hadn't scored 100+ since 2016. | ||
| Most recent wins are 4+ goal margins. | |||
You can see some of that experience edge take hold of them and once someone like Tom Lynch was held to 3 (and some late), there was no proper comeback likely.
If the Hawks feel like a real thrashing, they can do it. But sometimes if you are a finals type side, you're happy to get by in these games without injuries.
Match Selection: Hawthorn by 52 points
Suggested Bets: Hawthorn +50 @ $1.95
