威登育马场穿梭育种种公马「国防」育种下首批欧洲子嗣中的首匹冠军子嗣诞生——「长滩岛」于周六在比萨（Pisa）举办的一场途程为1000米的赛事中取得了其职业生涯中的首胜。

「长滩岛」的母系是冠军母马「贝尔机会」（父系为「胜利喝彩」），「长滩岛」是「贝尔机会」繁育下众多子嗣中的第二匹冠军子嗣。

「国防」还育种下了在二级赛玛丽皇后锦标赛（5弗隆）中夺得亚军的赛驹「闪光暮城」。「国防」在本半球的爱尔兰国家育马场（Irish National Stud），它穿梭至了维多利亚州的威登育马场内育种，2021年时它的配种费用9900澳元（包含消费税在内）。
